Daniel Robert Hoffman

Daniel Robert Hoffman, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Hoffman, was born on 19 December 1947, in Chicago, Illinois.  He was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist.

 

He graduated from Guilford High School (Rockford, Illinois) in 1965 and the University of Illinois in 1969.

 

Daniel enlisted in the U.S. Army and upon completion of his basic and advanced individual training, he received his orders for South Vietnam with a report date of 1 September 1971.  While in South Vietnam, Daniel  developed viral encephalitis and was transferred to the U.S. Army Hospital at Camp Zama, Japan.  He never recovered and died on 9 October 1971.

 

Daniel was survived by his parents and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Hoffman.

 

Specialist Fourth Class Daniel Robert Hoffman was buried in Chicago's Graceland Cemetery.
